Book Cover Redesign

For this project, we were asked to choose a book and redesign the cover. I chose Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen and worked with the idea of keeping the cover white and black. I got this idea from the subject of the book. The story takes place in a mental hospital in the 1960's. Mental hospitals in the 1960's were given a certain mask to make people thing that such a place was calm. Their colors were simple and sterile.

I also took great inspiration from the movie version of Girl, Interrupted and one of the more popular book covers/movie covers featuring the eyes of Winona Ryder who plays the main character in the movie.
