Mixed Media Self Portrait

For the Mixed Media Self Portrait project, I started off by finding a picture of myself on Facebook that I wanted to trace. Next, I traced the picture in Adobe Illustrator. I set the picture layer to Template and added a new layer above it to begin tracing the image. I used the Blob Brush in black to trace the image. Next, I took the original image off the template setting and moved it off of the artboard. I sampled colors from the original picture to begin coloring in the traced version. Once I was done coloring, I added a few darker colors to contour and create shadows. When the digital part was completely done, I printed a sample version of the picture on regular printer paper to make sure I liked the final product. I then printed the picture out again on thicker, sturdier paper. I sat down and used an Xacto knife to remove the picture from the white paper. I grabbed some paper from the art room that had a vintage wallpaper design and used spray adhesive to glue the picture onto the paper. Finally, the product was done. All I needed to do was use the same spray adhesive to mount the finished product on a black board.
