First, I looked at some dark photography online to get some inspiration. Then I came up with 12 thumbnails sketched in pencil. I already kind of knew what I wanted to do for the photo shoot but I sketched out some other ideas just in case I changed my mind. Next, I took the two ideas I liked the most and drew them on bigger paper. I added color with colored pencils to get the idea of what I wanted the color palette to be like. At this time I thought about who I wanted to photograh and where I wanted to take the photos. This was easy and I had no problem finding a model and a friend to help. The photoshoot went well. I got the help of my model Ebhann Brown and helper Zach Ernst. We took several different photos and I even used Zach to model a gas mask for me incase I decided to use the photo for part of the album. We traveled to a field in the woods down the street from me. It made a perfect backdrop for the photos. I took the photos and asked my friends which one they liked the best. I edited the photo several times and again asked them which one they liked best. I set up a new document in InDesign to the required specifications. I inserted the photo and then worked on the back in Adobe Illustrator. I tried several different versions until I found one that I liked best. I liked the messy feel to it, so I used the same font for the back on the front cover to add the name of the band and the album name. Once the album front and back were finally done, I exported it as a PDF. Lastly, I worked on the inside of the cover. I created it in Adobe Illustrator. I added lyrics to the background and added a traced version of one of the pictures I took to the document. For the other side of the inside cover I just used the same background but without the traced picture. When I was done I also exported that as a PDF. I was finally ready to print it out. I had the help of Bridgette Donelan to cut out the images. Once they were all cut out, I glued the inside images into the folded outside cover to make the flaps that hold the vinyl record.
